Come and discover this exceptional site located in Colombières sur Orb in the north west of the Hérault, in the heart of the Haut-Languedoc Regional Nature Park.
Climbers, hikers, swimmers and nature lovers enjoy the breathtaking scenery.
Enjoy a unique place with varied landscapes. The mountains, the forests, the waterfalls dug by the stream of Arles make the Gorges of Colombières wilder than those of the Gorges of Héric.
There are many hikes to reach the Caroux, the most famous of which is the 13 km long "PR (short hikes) des Gorges de Colombières" , with undoubtedly one of the biggest difference in altitude existing in "PR" in the Hérault (+818 m).To come, follow the RD 908, free parking, signposted in Colombières. Go for about 5h of walking, follow the yellow markings that allows you to go up the Gorges under the shade of chestnut trees (start rather rough, 400m of height difference). Discover the rocks that shelter troglodyte houses before enjoying the basins at the Fage. The descent is on an ancient Roman road that winds its way down through chestnut groves, between heather and broom. Passageways with wide slabs are regularly laid flat for your safety. We do not recommend this hike in foggy or wet weather, some parts can be slippery and dangerous, or if you suffer from vertigo.
