GR7 Lamalou les bains - Col du Cabaretou
The GR7 is a long route that goes from the Vosges to the Pyrenees almost following the watershed and, therefore, often in a ridge line: on one side, the waters flow towards the Mediterranean sea, on the other side, they flow towards the Atlantic ocean.
On this page, you will find a presentation of a portion of the GR 7 over 47km (29.2miles) from Lamalou les bains to the Col du Cabarétou (above Saint Pons de Thomièresà). This ridge path, most of the time at an altitude of 1,000metres, passes through the most emblematic places of the region: the forest of the fighting writers, the Caroux plateau, the Col de Fontfroide, the Somail and the lake of Vesoles. It marks the northern border of our territory.
Several types of accommodation are available at Les Avels, https://gites-caroux.net/, Héric, at Refuge des Bourdils.
